Obafemi Martins scores debut goal for Shanghai

Shanghai Shenhua forward Obafemi Martins scored two goals to help Chinese club side Shanghai Shenhua beat Qingdao Jonoon 5-0 in the Chinese FA Cup 3rd round at the Hongkou Stadium (Shanghai) on Thursday.

Star striker Demba Ba opened the scoring the 11th minute and doubled the lead in the 39th minute, before Guarin Fredy made it three in the 59th minute.

Nigerian forward Martins opened his goal account in the 56th minute via penalty and added another to make it five goals in the 72nd minutes of the encounter.

Shanghai Shenhua next face Hangzhou on Sunday to cruise to the next round of the Chinese FA Cup.

Martins has won the Italian Serie A title, the Italian Cup (twice), and the Super Cup, all with Inter. With Birmingham he scored the winning goal in the 2011 Football League Cup Final.

He has played European football with Inter, Newcastle and Wolfsburg, winning the UEFA Intertoto Cup with Newcastle. His highest scoring league seasons so far have seen him score 11 goals in the 2004–05 Serie A, and 17 in both the 2006–07 English Premier League and 2014 MLS.
