Ikorodu United blames loss to Wikki on poor officiating

Ikorodu United fell 3-0 to Wikki Tourists in a week 19 game of the Nigeria Premier League, and coach Sam Okpodu has blamed the loss on poor officiating.

Wikki Tourists scored their first goal 11 minutes into the first half through Hamza Tiya.

They scored their second and third goals in the 23rd and 77th minutes through Saidu Abdullahi and Tiya respectively.

But Okpodu said the officiating was unimpressive.

“In spite of the fact that my team did well, the officiating of the match was unimpressive.

“My team had been doing well all long till today, and the poor officiating contributed to our poor performance,’’ Okpodu said during the post-match interview at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi.

He however congratulated Wikki Tourists for their victory.

On his part, Abdullahi Maikaba, the Chief Coach of Wikki Tourists, commended his team for their performance and urged the players to maintain the tempo in subsequent matches.

“I am pleased with the performance of the team, and the officiating aspect too,” he said.
