Enyimba are hoping to finish among the two teams that will qualify after being placed in Group B of the CAF Champions League.
Ebyimba will contend with North African giants, Zamalek of Egypt and ES Setif of Algeria, as well as Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.
Current top scorer Mfon Udoh says only hard work will see them through the tough opponents.
“I took a pensive look at the eight qualifiers and immediately came to the conclusion that all the teams are very good sides and I know they are going to be tough opponents.
“Instantly I told myself that if we are hoping for particular opponents we may be getting it wrong.
“Right now we know our group’s opponents, Zamalek, ES Setif and Mamelodi Sundowns. The only sure route to success is hard work.
“There are no easy opponents in the group and we were not expecting one but I strongly believe if we do the needful and at the right time we will qualify from the group to the semifinals stage,” said the former Akwa United marksman to supersport.com.
The Nigerian champions have also won the African title twice when they achieved a back-to-back feat in 2003 and 2004. And this is the seventh time the Aba club will play in the group stage of the competition after reaching the last eight in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2011.
Zamalek have won the Caf Champions League five times in 1984, 1986, 1993, 1996 and 2002 while Setif have claimed the title twice in 1988 and 2014.
The first games of the Champions League will be played on June 17.
