NFF reaffirm Giwa FC fine as Lobi Stars, Enyimba punished

The Disciplinary Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has further reaffirmed the fines slammed on Giwa FC for failing to honour three consecutive games of the Nigeria Premier League.

Giwa FC has been thrown out of the current season of the Nigerian elite league after failing to honour three cumulative games – Match Day 14, Giwa FC Vs. Wikki Tourist FC, Match Day 16 Giwa FC Vs Akwa United FC and Match Day 18 Giwa FC Vs. Enyimba FC.

Lobi Stars and Enugu Rangers also got fined for various degrees of offenses.

The NFF ruled in its meeting on Monday that Giwa FC shall pay a fine of N10,000,000 (Ten Million Naira Only) to the LMC in line with rule B13. 25 of the NPFL Frame Work and Rules. They shall pay the Sum of N650,000 to offset the expenses of the match officials to the LMC, and also pay the Sum of N1, 000,000 (One Million Naira) Only to offset the expenses incurred by Enyimba FC.

The committee says it finds Giwa FC in breach of Rule B13.28 of the NPFL Frame Work and Rules which states that “If a club fails to honour three matches cumulatively within the League season without an acceptable reason to the LMC such a club shall be expelled from the League and its matches played and unplayed shall be cancelled”.

In the ruling of the game between Lobi Stars and Nasarawa United, the Disciplinary Committee rules that supporters of Lobi severally interrupted the match by throwing objects, including stones and water sachets, on to the field of play during the match.

As a result, Lobi Stars are fined N500,000.00 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira only) for acts of throwing objects on to the field of play and severally interrupting the match, in breach of Rule B13.18.

A fine of N500,000.00 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira only) for encroachment on to the field of play immediately after the match, in breach of Rule B13.18; was placed, and a fine of N1,000,000.00 (One Million Naira only) for general acts of disorderliness and misconduct, in breach of Rule C1.

In the Match Day 10 between Enyimba and Warri Wolves, the NFF ruled that Enyimba FC is in breach of Rule C9 of the NPFL Frame Work and Rules by failing to ensure the proper conduct of their players at all times more particularly during match day 10; match No 96 of the NPFL 2015/2016 season when, some of its players unwarrantedly accosted the General Manager of Warri Wolves FC (Mr. Moses Etu) at the end of the match.

Consequently, an initial fine of N750,000 as contained in the Summary Jurisdiction Notice of the LMC is reduced to the sum of #500,000 to be paid by Enyimba FC, and a letter of apology must be issued.
