Mikel, Iheanacho make Siasia’s Rio Olympics provisional list

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel and Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho were named in Nigeria’s provisional list for the men’s football event at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Watford striker Odion Ighalo was also included, and so was Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi and Liverpool’s Taiwo Awoniyi.

Players who have had experience playing in the Nigeria senior team constitute half of those listed in Coach Siasia’s provisional squad of 35, who will train in the USA before a final list of 18 is drawn up just before the trip to Brazil.
