Struggling Nigeria Premier League club Ikorodu United have appointed former Super Eagles goalkeeper Ike Shorunmu as their trainer.
Last week, Ikorodu United announced Dutch man Theo De Jong as replacement for Sam Okpodu.
In March, Okpodu took over from Benson Edema who was given the boot owing to poor start to the league season, winning one, losing three and securing two draws to languish near the relegation zone, making De Jong their third coach in three months.
“The management of Ikorodu United is glad to announce the addition of new assistant coach and goal keeper trainee, Shakiru Giwa and Ike Shorunmu,” media officer of the club Babatunde Ayoola said.
Shorunmu has recently served as the national team goalkeeper coach as well as for Enyimba F.C. In 2010 Shorunmu was hired in the same capacity for Heartland F.C.
Ikorodu United occupy the 19th spot on the league table with just 15 points from 21 games.
