Dalung sets Rio Olympics target for Nigeria athletes

Sports Minister Solomon Dalung has set medals target for Team Nigeria to the Rio 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

Dalung said Nigeria is targeting ten medals when the tournament gets underway in August.

“We are targeting 10 medals in Rio, but at least we should win five medals.” Dalung said.

He however did not state the kind of medals, whether gold silver or bronze.

The Rio 2016 Olympics begin on August 5 and ends on the 21st.

It could be recalled that athletes and officials have lamented the lack of funds to train ahead of the Games, and some have admitted that Nigeria has no hope of winning a medal.
