Nigerian starlet Jesse Sekidika says he is prepared for the new season in the Serbian Premier League.
Sekidika, who just concluded the pre-season with his FK Napredak Krusevac club is in the right spirit for the kickoff of the new season with an away game against Red Star Belgrade on July 23.
Speaking with News24, Sekidika said the pre-season, concluded last weekend was a great experience under new manager Dragan Ivanovic.
“Pre-season was good at FK Napredak Krusevac and we have a new coach with new philosophy and some new additions to the team.
“Personally for me I did my best to prepare good and provided good performances in the friendly games we had. I have the confidence and belief from the coach and I can’t wait to start the season,” the 19-year-old told News24 from his base in Serbia.
About the season opener against Red Star, the former Benfica youth player said his team is positive of a good result despite the fact that their host is currently the best side in the country.
“It’s against the best team in the country but I believe we also have a good team and a good coach and we will do our best to give a good performance and hopefully secure a positive result.
“Personally, my targets for the new season is just to give my best for the team and try to secure a good position in the league and individually to keep improving as a player with each game and every training session.”
Red Star Belgrade is the current league champions in Serbia and on Tuesday went to defeat Valletta 2-1 at home in a Champions League second qualifying round.
