Rivers United coach Stanley Eguma has revealed why his side were victorious against Shooting Stars Sports Club in a penalty shootout to qualify for the quarter final of the 2016 Federation Cup.
The tie between both teams stretched into the shootout after a barren result at the end of regulation on Wednesday in Kaduna.
Eguma was though ecstatic after the nervy win, but revealed that Rivers United practiced penalty shootout during training.
“It was a keenly contested game. The two teams know themselves inside out and we expected a tough game,” he said.
“It was a good game but we practiced penalty kicks and that’s why we were almost perfect with our spot kicks.
“It is not over yet as the competition gets tougher with each round.”
Crown FC is now the only team from Oyo State that is still in contention for the Federation Cup trophy after defeating Enugu Rangers 2-1.
