Abia Warriors striker Chisom Chikatara has finally been released by the club to join Moroccan champions, Wydad Athletic after all the problems inhabiting the deal were amicably resolved by the two parties, the Nigerian club said in a statement.
The immensely talented goal hunter who netted four times for Nigeria in the Africa Nations Championship earlier this year, had penned a three-year contract with the former African Champions shortly after his national exploits in Rwanda but could not join them for their failure to fulfill some aspects of the deal.
But Abia Warriors Chairman, Emeka Inyama said on the club’s website that the Ibeku-born striker arrived Morocco on Sunday morning after all the grey areas were handled.
Inyama expressed happiness that the deal has finally come to fruition and wished the Abia Warriors all-time goal scorer the best as he begins a new life in North Africa.
“The Abia Warriors family wishes Chikatara the best as he settles down with his new club in Morocco. He served us well and we know this is just the beginning of what awaits him in future,” Inyama said.
