Team Nigeria has arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday ahead of the kick off of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil.
The major batch of the athletes hit the Brazilian city at midday as confirmed by the President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Daniel Igali.
“Arrived Rio via Sao Paolo hours ago. Team has gone for accreditation at athletes village. Me checked into hotel.” He confirmed their arrival via his Twitter handle in words and photographs.
The U-23 footballers were also billed to leave Atlanta, USA, on Tuesday night for Brazil but there were reports the team did not travel, a third time their scheduled trip will be delayed.
The Nigeria Olympic football team will launch the country’s newly designed jerseys by kit sponsors Nike beginning with their opening match against Japan on Thursday, the Nigeria Football federation stated on Tuesday.
This new design is also what the Super Eagles will wear for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers beginning with the trip to Zambia on October 3.
The home kit is a solid green, with white ribbing around the back of the modern crewneck collar. The new away kit is white with a green stripe that runs the length of the sides of shirt and shorts, and a green stripe along the back of the collar.
