Former Nigeria goalkeeper Alloy Agu has described the late Rashidi Yekini as a very lively person when he was alive.
Speaking on the fourth anniversary since the passing of Yekini, following his death on May 4, 2012, Agu told Completesportsnigeria.com that it was a great loss to Nigeria as a country.
“He was a lively person. He made sure everybody laughed whenever he was around,” Agu, who played alongside Yekini for the Super Eagles, told Completesportsnigeria.com on Wednesday.
“He was very hardworking and did so well for Nigeria and I think his death was a great loss to us and I pray that his soul continues to rest in peace.”
On his part, Garba Lawal, a team-mate of Yekini’s at the France 1998 World Cup , recalled how the late legend used to advise him.
“May his soul rest in peace. He was a wonderful athlete and a very good friend of mine,” Lawal told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“I remember at the France 1998 World Cup, he used to invite me to his room and we would get talking and he would advise me.
“So for me, he was a wonderful man that will always be remembered.”
