Nigeria’s Dream Team suffered a 2-0 defeat to gift Colombia a quarter final ticket at the men’s football event of the Rio 2016 Olympics.
An early goal in the first half and a penalty in the second, ensured the South Americans book a quarter final date with continental rivals and host Brazil.
A first-half strike from captain Teofilo Gutierrez and a second-half penalty from Dorlan Pabon ensured the South Americans now joined their West African opponents in the quarter-finals.
Coach Samson Siasia’s side were less convincing from their last game against Sweden after making some changes to the starting lineup, as a result allowed Colombia to dominate play.
Nigeria will now play Denmark who finished second from Group A in the quarter final, while Colombia will clash with host Brazil in an all-South America clash.
