The chairman of FCT Badminton Association, Gabriel Gbayan has started the process of repositioning the game of Badminton within the six local council of the Federal Capitals Territory.
Gbayan at the weekend led some members of his board to Gwagwalada local council to identify with Badminton stakeholders in the area council ahead of the much anticipated forthcoming National Badminton championship due to be hosted by the FCT Badminton Association later this year.
Three major Badminton sport facilities were discovered during the scheduled visit and they include that of Specialist hospital, Giri and Quarters Badminton clubs.
Scores of Badminton stakeholders, including active players and veterans were in attendance to welcome the Chairman and his entourage, where they all pledged to work together with the association for the growth of the game.
Speaking shortly after being given a special reception by the Badminton community in Gwagwalada, Mr Gbayan expressed joy at seeing the willingness exhibited by the Gwagwalada Badminton interest group and he encouraged the group to see the game as a recreational tool for keeping fit health wise and also as a means of curbing youth restiveness in their locality.
Gbayan inspected facilities at Quarters Badminton court and promised to raise a technical team that will improve the quality of the court and also the standard of the game in the Area council.
Meanwhile the chairperson of the Specialist Hospital Badminton club, Mr Sule Dahiru acknowledged the contributions made by the FCT Badminton Association chairman and also declared the readiness of Gwagwalada Badminton Clubs to work harmoniously with Mr Gbayan to foster unity among Badminton stakeholders in Abuja.
The Fct Badminton Association has scheduled to visit Kuje and other local councils its next familiarization tour next month.
