The Golden Eaglets have joined their superiors Super Eagles and the Flying Eagles for a black-out 2017 football year after losing 3-1 to Niger and consequently failing to qualify for the CAF U17 Championship.
The Golden Eaglets will also miss out on the FIFA U17 World Cup, losing an opportunity to defend their title.
The Super Eagles failed to qualify for the AFCON 2017 and so the Flying Eagles, who also missed out of on the next FIFA U20 World Cup.
The Golden Eaglets have now compounded Nigeria’s woes, which many argue is as a result of bad administration of the game in the West African Country.
Having won 1-0 in the first leg a fortnight ago, the Golden Eaglets only needed to avoid defeat on Saturday in the Niamey encounter.
But Nigeria failed to hold their own, losing to their West African neighbour and consequently missing out on the 2017 FIFA U17 World Cup.
