CSKA Moscow forward Aaron Samuel is injured and could be out for up to six months.
The Guangzhou R&F of China striker, who is on loan at the Russian outfit made seven appearances and scored twice before his spell on the sidelines, where he is most likely to be until November.
The Armymen’s director general, Roman Babayev, confirmed that Samuel will spend a minimum of six months on the sidelines.
All this comes even after Samuel got two operations at a German hospital last week after damaging his knee ligaments during the first half of the Russian Cup final against Zenit St Petersburg last month.
“We have not even talked to the agent of Olanare. The operation took place at the end of last week. Unfortunately, it confirmed the initial diagnosis, damaged front and lateral cruciate ligament.
“In fact, 6-7 months – the minimum recovery time. In fact, he had two operations. The situation is difficult. Let’s sit down, let’s talk with the agent. We are upset. But this is football – nothing can be done. Not yet ready to announce a decision.”
The Super Eagles forward had played for Nigeria Premier League side Shooting Stars of Ibadan during his stint in the country.
