Nigeria match commissioner found dead in hotel after league duty

Mallam Tanko Nuhu who was the match commissioner for the Nigeria Premier League game between Kano Pillars and Ikorodu United was found dead in his hotel room after the game.

Kano Pillars defeated Ikorodu United 2-1 in a matchday 15 game of the league at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday.

When his death was discovered on Monday, Nuhu, from Nasarawa state, reportedly died of heart failure.

The chairman Nasarawa State FA Mohammed Alkali and the chairman of Nasarawa United Isaac Danladi, as well as Pillars boss Kabir Baita have confirmed the late Nuhu’s death, according to General Manager of ABS FC Alloy Chukwuemeka.

Until his death, Tanko was a former board member of the Nigeria National League headed by Emeka Inyama whose tenure expired last year.
