Veteran coach Okey Emordi has resigned his position as the Technical Director of Abia Warriors Football Club.
Emordi tendered his resignation letter to the club management on Monday.
The coach cited poor run of form as his reason for leaving Abia Warriors.
“Following series of poor results recorded recently by the club, I wish to resign my appointment as the Technical Adviser of Abia Warriors FC, thereby leading to the termination of the contract I entered with the club forthwith.
“I sincerely appreciate the opportunity given to me to serve the club. I wish the club the best in the remaining league matches.” He wrote in his resignation letter.
According to Abia Warriors, Emordi’s assistant, Abdullahi Biffo is to take over with immediate effect.
Biffo’s first assignment will be an away Nigeria Professional Football League match against Akwa United in Uyo this weekend.
Emordi has coached Enugu Rangers, Enyimba, and Kano Pillars.
He won the CAF Champions League for Enyimba in 2004, which earned him the CAF Africa Coach of the Year award.
