Coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club Gbenga Ogunbote has admitted that Rivers United showed more maturity than his side in the Federation Cup Round of 16 tie.
A 3-2 win in penalty shootout ensured the Port Harcourt side book a place in the final eight and consequently throw the Ibadan club out of the competition.
Ogunbote identified experience as the tie breaker in the contest.
“It was keenly-contested but we need to score. We have one clear chance and if we had scored, it would have made the difference.
“These things however happen in football and there is nothing you can do.
“They showed more maturity than us in the penalty shootout but now, we have to concentrate on avoiding relegation in the (Nigeria Professional Football League),” he said.
Incidentally, 3SC’s next league game is against Rivers United on Sunday at the Yakubu Gowon stadium in Port Harcourt.
