Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has extended his contract with Belgian top division club KAA Gent till 2018.
The 22-year-old defender has been on loan with Norwegian top-flight FK Haugesund since the start of this year, where he was handed the captaincy arm-band on arrival.
Posting on Instagram, the half Nigerian, half Dutch said “New contract KAA Gent.”
As at May, Troost-Ekong had won five man-of-the-match awards and was named in the team of the week four times. He had also featured in 11 Tippeligaen games and has won 18 out of 21 tackles and weighed in with 11 blocked shots and 28 interceptions.
After playing youth football in England for Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur, Troost-Ekong began his senior career in the Netherlands with FC Groningen and FC Dordrecht, before joining Gent in July 2015.
