Warri Wolves and Akwa United both forced out one point each in their respective Nigeria Premier League MatchDay 22 games played on Sunday, with Wikki holding on to the top of the table after a goalless draw against Heartland.
Wolves played out a 2-2 draw with former champions Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, a fortress for the home team.
Rabiu Ali opened scoring for Pillars in the 26th minute, while Shedrack Ogbu drew level for Wolves in the 46th minute.
Pillars Captain, Gambo Muhammed, put the side ahead in the 54th minute before Shedrack Ogbu equalised for Wolves in the 81st minute.
In Lagos, Akwa United draw 1-1 with host Ikorodu United to ensure the Lagos side continue their poor results.
Elsewhere, Ajani Ibrahim scored in the 25th minute to help 3SC beat defending champions Enyimba 1-0 at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan, while Heartland could not beat Wikki Tourists in Owerri as they played out a goalless draw to ensure the Northern team remain top of the table with 38 points from 21 games.
Sunshine Stars left it late to beat Lobi Stars 1-0, thanks to Okiki Afolabi’s well-taken penalty in the 88th minute.
Rivers United enjoyed a massive 4-1 victory over MFM FC in Port Harcourt to move second spot on the log with goals difference separating them from Wikki, while Nasarawa defeated FC IfeanyiUbah 4-2 in a six goal thriller.
Plateau United were 2-0 better than Enugu Rangers, with El Kanemi beating Abia Warriors by same margin on Saturday.
