Egypt’s Mohamed Elneny beat off competition from Nigeria youngster Alex Iwobi and Alexis Sanchez to emerge winner of Arsenal’s Player of the Month for April.
Elneny was also involved recently when Egypt beat Iwobi and Nigeria in a key Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Alexandria.
The former Basel midfielder polled 40.2% of the votes to come tops.
It was his second award since joining Arsenal in January, as he won the award in March.
Sanchez finished second with 32.3% after finding the back of the net five times for Arsenal in April.
Iwobi, who scored one goal and got three assists in April, was third after polling 16.3% votes.
Elneny joins the quartet of Francis Coquelin, Theo Walcott, Mesut Ozil (four times winner) and Petr Cech as the winners of the award this season.
